EMILY MOGAMI
Emily Mogami is a queer Japanese-Brazilian artist creating her own representation through feminist wearable sculptures and movie-poster-esque paintings. She incorporates references to Japanese and Brazilian culture to pay homage to her heritage, and recently she has also made work advocating for better representation of queer women in Japanese media.
Through frequently painting or wearing the sculptures herself performing as alternate characters, she hopes to inspire self-confidence and inspire other individuals like her through her artworks. She is also often inspired by fangirl/fandom culture, and in her free time you can find her watching J-pop idol MVs or listening to Anitta, a Brazilian pop star.
